    The North Pennsmen do it again. On Saturday, January 20, 2007 we hosted the MAD Northern Adjudication for at least the fourth or fifth time. I want to thank all of you for whatever you did.. Things went well from the start.
    The day was cold but we warmed up quickly as we got tables set up for the judges, set up our sound system and assigned rooms to 12 quartets and one ensemble. This was accomplished in what seemed to be record time.
    Then it was hurry up and wait for the young people and their chaperons and music educators to arrive around 10 A.M. The Contest Administrator, judges and Mike Fasano arrived around 9:30 and meeting and briefings were held.
    As the groups arrived they were met by Bob Phifer's troops of hosts. The only challenge was waiting for the gang from Saint Frances Prep from Flushing, New York to get here. There was a delay getting started, but the time was well ably filled by 'Round Midnight', the guest quartet from Long Island and Bon Voyage (one of our chapter quartets) who were mike testers. We started about 10 minutes late but were able to hold to the program as it was printed. There were five ladies quartets and seven mens. There was also one mixed ensemble.
    'Round Midnight and the North Pennsmen entertained while the rankings of the singers were checked and double checked. This segment ended with the North Pennsmen inviting the youth to join us on stage to sing "Hello Mary Lou". When this was over, the students stayed on stage to receive their rankings and the festivities were officially over except for the judges' evaluations and coaching of the groups. As usual, you could hear tags in the halls for quite a while.
